Will there be any impact if I resolutely refrain from crowning after root canal treatment?

After the root canal treatment, the doctor usually reminds: Some patients are very emotional at this time: the treatment is finished, and my tooth is no longer sore, what crown restorations should I do? But you still have to deal with the doctor, so in fact, your idea is...real? ! So you are lucky enough to let your teeth bite on small nuts and small melon seeds without "protective clothing"... One day "click"! Teeth split! Someone might say, if after root canal treatment, I try to use it carefully so as not to split the teeth! Of course you can. But, when you eat at this time, you will always think: You can’t eat with this side, you can’t eat with this tooth... How can you enjoy the food if you are disturbed by normal chewing and normal eating? Root canal treatment is an effective method to treat fractured teeth with pulpitis or pulp necrosis and apical lesions that cannot retain vital pulp. The suggestion of timely crown restoration after root canal treatment is entirely from the perspective of benefiting the patient. From the medical professional point of view, crown restoration is also a necessary step in root canal treatment. Why is it said that crown protection should be done after root canal treatment? ? There are three main reasons:

1 It is no longer possible to restore the function with materials alone. Because the teeth that need root canal treatment are generally already very defective in tooth decay, at this time, although the root canal treatment is completed, there is very little tooth tissue remaining, and materials alone cannot be used. It is firm and easy to fall off.

2 After treatment, there is not enough strength to support chewing. Root canal treatment is to remove and disinfect the residue and bacteria in the root canal as much as possible through the operation of drugs and instruments. However, if such a disinfection process is to be carried out carefully, it is necessary to remove a lot of dental tissues infected by bacteria. Therefore, once root canal treatment is applied to most teeth, they may not be able to support the strength of chewing for a long time and break.

3 Lost the nutrient supply from the dental pulp. After the root canal treatment is done, the tooth loses the dental pulp, just like the trunk of a big tree is hollowed out and the nutrient delivery channel is lost. The teeth without the nourishment of the dental pulp are as fragile as a dead tree, and the remaining residual crown will split after a little bit of hard chewing. Therefore, in order to avoid this risk, doctors usually make a new crown for the patient to protect the teeth after the root canal treatment is restored. How long does it take to have braces after the root canal treatment? Generally speaking, after the root canal treatment, you need to observe for a week. If there is no pain or other discomfort, you can do the braces restoration.

Some teeth, such as part of the front teeth, have less tooth removal, and the risk of tooth fracture and splitting is not so great. You can also postpone braces and use them carefully. In short, follow the advice of a professional dentist. What should I pay attention to after wearing a crown? Teeth after root canal treatment, even with crowns, need us to take care of them like our other teeth:

1 Avoid biting hard food. Although the teeth were put on crowns after root canal treatment to restore their masticatory function, they were somewhat brittle.

2 After the root canal treatment, the teeth will feel a little uncomfortable due to the stimulation of the fillings. If the discomfort disappears after a short period of time, it is a normal reaction. After waiting for a period of time, if the teeth show pain, redness and swelling again, you need to go to the hospital for further examination and treatment in time.

3 After the root canal treatment, the teeth returned to health, but because the overall oral hygiene status has not changed, the teeth will still have symptoms afterwards. Therefore, after the root canal treatment is completed and the crown is put on for protection, you should still pay more attention to oral hygiene, brush your teeth in the morning and evening, rinse your mouth after meals, and develop good hygiene habits.

Although the teeth after root canal treatment do not seem to be as strong as before, they are still our truest teeth after all. Some people think that root canal treatment is troublesome and expensive, and they ask a dentist to extract their teeth. In fact, this practice is generally not recommended. Because even if the tooth is pulled out, the temporary pain is avoided, but missing teeth also has the hazard of missing teeth. At that time, you will still have to insert and implant the teeth, which is time-consuming, laborious and costly, and the final restoration of the denture will have a better effect. It’s not as comfortable as natural teeth, is it? Therefore, friends who have undergone root canal treatment must follow the doctor’s advice to do crown repair in time. This is the way to be responsible for their own oral health~~
