As the name suggests, it is a blanket that separates the "water", which isolates the teeth so that the saliva in the mouth does not flow into the dentist's operating area. As dental filling materials are used, they are very afraid of being contaminated by saliva or blood and causing filling failures. Therefore, liquid isolation is very important.
①The rubber dam will separate the water sprayed by the dentist’s equipment from entering the patient’s mouth, causing uncomfortable foreign body sensation and vomiting.
②The rubber dam can also protect the soft tissues of the oral cavity (lips and tongue) from being cut by the molars, especially children. The tongue is often unwilling during treatment. If there is no rubber dam, it will often be cut by dental equipment.
③The rubber dam can still prevent small instruments from falling into the mouth or accidentally swallowing into the esophagus and trachea, and reduce cross-infection between the patient and the doctor.
